The GU12 Flame and Coach Jessica had a fun team building experience when they volunteered and participated at Outdoor Fest.

" I had them all wear their jerseys so they would stay a 'team'. I know this will be a documentary, video blog and I reminded them they are representing HIllwood as well, so they where all on their best behavior!! I take our team on a field trip every year (community college soccer games, hikes, team building trust parties etc.) I have been a member of the mountaineer club for some time and knew they needed volunteers. So the girls and I went on Wednesday and helped stuff their treat bags and then again on Saturday for the actual event. The girls learned about owls and wolves in danger of extinction as well as the Elwa River project and dam removal complete with a personalized presentation from Ranger Josh and a river reenactment of the dam removal. They all tried rock climbing, made wooden boats with the Center of Wooden Boats, entered raffles and heard Sasquatch stories. We where asked by Ms. Foster to assist in this video project by making fish hats and running through the banner to show fish freedom... All of the girls said yes and they were interviewed to give their perception and/or knowledge of the salmon and this project. This was an amazing event and the girls were able to connect on a different level... off of the field building trust and companionship."
